Nihon Kyūjutsu (日本弓術)
(Special Workshop training)

Kyūjutsu (弓術) is a form of traditional Japanese martial art practiced by the samurai class during feudal Japan; the practice emphasize in the use of archery in the context of warfare.

Kyūjutsu was an integral part of the samurai warrior training, being considered as one of the most important warrior's skills in the battlefield. The purpose of this art is to develop proficiency while using archery to hit particular targets and/or the enemies wick points while wearing Yoroi (日本鎧 - Japanese Armor).
After the Meiji reform (late 19th century) the Samurai class was abolished, making those ancient methods of warfare not longer needed, and having those skills transforming into sport practices and competitions, or becoming as an extension of the traditional meditation practices known as Zen. Several Kobujutsu schools (古武術 - ancient martial arts) as well as Ninjutsu schools (忍術 - Shinobi (Ninja) arts) continue to teach Kyūjutsu, but the modern practice of Kyūdō (弓道) is more popular now.
